CROWLEY LAKE, CA - Some days the criminals do most of the work for law enforcement.

Thursday, May 8th, 2014, the Mono County Sheriff’s Department deputies attempted to contact an man in the Crowley Lake area in order to serve a felony arrest warrant related to multiple previous drunk driving arrests.

Police were unable to find the man at his residence but learned he had recently been in the area.

MCSD deputies broadcast that the man was in the area. Not long after the California Highway Patrol received a 9-1-1 call with information about an erratic driver in that same area. Units from multiple jurisdictions responded and two CHP units observed a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Academy Avenue.

A felony traffic stop was initiated and the driver, Daniel J. Maddock, Age 52 of Crowley Lake, was taken into custody for both the felony arrest warrant and for driving under the influence of alcohol at the time he was stopped.

The suspect was booked into the Inyo County Jail in Independence and bail was set at $250,000 secondary to information Mr. Maddock may have been fleeing from the area in order to avoid prosecution.
