RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. (AP) - Some residents of a Sacramento-area neighborhood are voicing concerns about a 40,000-square-foot indoor shooting range that is getting ready to open in their midst.
The Sacramento Bee says the new Sacramento Gun Club range will be located in the city of Rancho Cordova near a Waldorf-inspired charter school, a senior center, an apartment complex, a church and a community park.
The club's proximity to those properties is making some neighbors who just found about it uncomfortable.
George Washington Carver School of Arts and Science Principal Allegra Alessandri says the range will be an eerie and unwelcome reminder of the mass slayings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut almost two years ago.
The Bee says California law does not prohibit shooting ranges from being located near schools or parks.
