SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (AP) - A brush fire is burning on a San Francisco Bay area mountain peak that abuts the heavily populated community of South San Francisco.
CalFire spokesman Daniel Berlant said the fire broke out on Saturday afternoon on San Bruno Mountain, which lies between South San Francsico and Daly City in San Mateo County.
Berlant says it has burned at least 15 acres and is threatening some nearby homes. Firefighting aircraft have been brought in to fight the blames.
San Francisco television station KGO says evacuations are under way.
Although smoke from the fire can be seen from San Francisco International Airport, airport spokesman Chuck Navigante says it is not disrupting any flights.
