MISSION VIEJO, Calif. (AP) - Orange County sheriff's say thieves have ransacked a Mission Viejo home to steal more than $200,000 worth of jewelry, cash and more than a dozen guns, many of them gold-plated.
The Orange County Register reports investigators believe the suspect or suspects forced their way into the home sometime Wednesday morning by breaking into a back window.
Spokesman Jim Amormino says two AR-15 assault rifles and 15 handguns were in a large gun safe that was pried open. The guns were restored firearms, most of which were gold-plated.
The home's residents say they believe they were randomly targeted.
