Possible Witness Sought in Deadly Shooting at Tahoe Gas Station

UPDATE: The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an individual who may have information regarding the homicide at the USA Gas station on August 6th, 2013.

On August 5th, 2013, in the late afternoon/early evening, an unidentified male was observed walking in the vicinity of the gas station. Detectives are seeking to identify the man, seen in the attached surveillance video, as a possible witness. He is a white male, with light brown or blond hair, wearing a light colored polo shirt.

Information should be provided to the police department at (530) 542-6100 or online at www.facebook.com/sltpd.detectives. A reward for information leading to solution of this case has been increased to $6,000 due to contributions by local business owners.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA - South Lake Tahoe police are still looking for the person who shot a gas station clerk to death Tuesday night.

Police say they were called by a customer of the USA gas station on Lake Tahoe Boulevard who said the clerk was lying in a pool of blood on the floor. Police and paramedics responded and tried CPR, but 27-year-old Manpreet Ghuman Singh was pronounced dead at the scene. He had been shot once in the upper torso.

The call to 911 was made shortly before 11PM. Surveillance video indicates a short time before the customer found the victim, one person walked into the store, had a brief encounter with the clerk and shot him, then left. Police say it does not appear as though a robbery took place, and they don't know a motive,

Police say the shooter is thin, 5'8" to 5'10" and had a on black hoodie with dark mask over his face. His skin tone appears light. He could be anywhere in age from twenties to forties, according to police information.

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is processing evidence, questioning witnesses and reaching out to allied law enforcement agencies to help solve this homicide. The SLTPD is working with investigators from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department and the El Dorado County District Attorney’s office, plus the local FBI office, in a joint effort to identify and capture the attacker. Anyone with information that might help is asked to call the SLTPD at 530-542-6100 or Secret Witness at 530-541-6800. Rewards for information leading to an arrest in this case total $4,000.
