GALT, Calif. (AP) - Galt police have released the name of the officer who was shot and killed by a suspect after responding to a report of a burglary Tuesday.
Galt police Lt. Jim Uptegrove says Officer Kevin Tonn was fatally shot during what he described as a physical altercation with the suspect around 11:30 a.m.
The 31-year-old Tonn was shot once by the suspect. He died after being taken to a hospital
Uptegrove says the suspect then turned the gun on himself and "inflicted one fatal gunshot on himself."
The name of the suspect has not been released.
