SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - A former aide to Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson is facing charges that she billed trips to Disneyland and thousands of dollars in personal expenses to her city-issued credit card.
Lisa Serna-Mayorga was arrested Tuesday and charged with misappropriating public funds, grand theft, forgery and making or drawing worthless checks.
Prosecutors say Serna-Mayorga charged more than $19,000 worth of personal expenses to the card from July 2009 to June 2012, including trips to Disneyland, restaurant outings and hotel stays in Bodega Bay and Monterey.
She allegedly wrote checks to cover some of the expenses following an audit, but did not have funds to cover them and stopped the payments before they could be cashed.
Serna-Mayorga served as office manager for the mayor and the City Council from 2008 to 2012. She has been released on $50,000 bail.
A call to her home Wednesday morning was not immediately returned.
