RAINBOW, Calif. (AP) - San Diego County authorities say they arrested a man and seized nearly 50 roosters after discovering a cockfighting operation in the rural community of Rainbow.
City News Services says sheriff's deputies discovered the roosters, along with cages and cockfighting equipment, when they went to a home on Tuesday to check on a probationer.
They arrested 47-year-old Rolando Carbajal (KAR'-buh-hahl) on suspicion of possessing fighting cocks and the probationer, 39-year-old Blanca Campos, on a warrant and suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia. Authorities say Carbajal has a previous cockfighting arrest.
Carbajal and Campos couldn't immediately be reached for comment by The Associated Press.
