SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The Northern California district attorney facing disbarment after a judge found him culpable of misconduct is accusing state Bar officials of going after him with "petty charges, discredited complaints and witnesses and prejudicial statements."
Del Norte County District Attorney Jon Alexander made the comments in a statement he issued Friday, a day after a state Bar judge recommended he be disbarred.
Judge Lucy Armendariz said Alexander was culpable of improper communication with a defendant, moral turpitude and suppression of evidence in connection with a discussion he had with a drug defendant without the woman's lawyer being present.
Alexander says he is not surprised by the verdict and is considering his options, including giving up his job.
