SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A drug dealer has been convicted of killing a homeless woman who was doused with gasoline and burned alive in San Francisco six years ago.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports 36-year-old Mia Sagote was found guilty Tuesday of murder, kidnapping and robbery. Sagote could face life in prison without the possibility of parole when she's sentenced Dec. 17.
Prosecutors say 49-year-old Leslie "Jill" May was killed in January 2007 after she told police that Sagote robbed and beat her over $150 owed by May's boyfriend to Sagote.
Sagote was apparently furious May went to police so she kidnapped the homeless woman, poured gas on her at a Candlestick Park parking lot, and set her ablaze.
A co-defendant agreed to testify against Sagote in exchange for a 14-year prison sentence.
