FORESTHILL, Calif. (AP) - Most of the evacuations ordered in
Placer County have been lifted as firefighters made significant
gains on a blaze that has been burning for a week and threatening
dozens of homes.
State fire spokesman Daniel Berlant said Wednesday that the
so-called Robbers fire near Foresthill was 70 percent contained. It
had scorched more than four square miles.
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said
colder temperatures and higher humidity helped fire crews make
gains on the stubborn blaze, which was burning in steep, heavily
