MALIBU, Calif. (AP) - Crews have cleared a rock slide that blocked one lane of a main Malibu artery for nearly two hours, causing traffic backups on several connecting roads.
California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada says the slide happened shortly before 7 a.m. near the tunnel in the southbound lane of Las Virgenes Road.
Posada says the two-lane road, a key route between Malibu and the San Fernando Valley, was cleared by 8:42 a.m.
Television images showed cars slowly maneuvering into the northbound lane to avoid the pile of rocks and dust.
Traffic backed up for a time on Las Virgenes and on nearby Malibu Canyon Road and Pacific Coast Highway.
