Conviction in Stabbing Death of Military Veteran

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - A Southern California man has been convicted for the stabbing death of an Air Force veteran and wounding of another man during a New Year's party brawl nearly two years ago.

An Orange County jury on Wednesday convicted 23-year-old Adam Randy Baker of second-degree murder and attempted murder.

City News Service says Baker faces 24 years to life in prison when he's sentenced in February.

Baker stabbed to death 27-year-old Robert Sickles and wounded 26-year-old Brian McTeigue during a fight at the Costa Mesa Hilton Hotel early on Jan. 1, 2011.

Baker had flicked a cigarette into the crowd as the party was winding down and he was confronted by Sickles and McTeigue.

The defense said Baker pulled a knife in self-defense.
