Coast Guard Rescues 21 Stranded Migrants

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Twenty-one people found floating in a disabled boat off San Diego have been rescued and taken into custody by the U.S. Coast Guard.

UT San Diego reports a fisherman about 12 miles off the coast reported the 25-foot panga Friday.

Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class Henry Dunphy says a cutter was diverted to intercept the boat, which carried 19 men and 2 women.

All the occupants, believed to be from Mexico, were turned over to the Border Patrol.

Dunphy tells the newspaper it's unclear how long they had been adrift. He says they were all in good health.
