VENTURA, Calif. (AP) - A U.S. Coast Guard member has died in an unspecified incident off the Southern California coast.
Ventura County's chief deputy medical examiner said 34-year-old Terrell Horne III of Redondo Beach was pronounced dead at the Port of Hueneme early Sunday.
James Baroni said Horne was in an incident near Santa Cruz Islands, and was taken to the port where he was declared dead shortly after 2 a.m.
He declined to elaborate on the incident, saying the Coast Guard was preparing a statement on the matter.
A call to a Coast Guard spokesman was not immediately returned.
