IDYLLWILD, Calif. (AP) - A rock climber is dead after falling 150 feet while scaling a rock face in the San Jacinto Wilderness near Idyllwild.
Riverside County authorities said Saturday that Lucas Dunn died Friday while scaling Lily Rock, a popular climb about 110 miles southeast of Los Angeles.
Deputies and Cal Fire medical personnel responded about 11:30 a.m. to a report of the injured climber and hiked to the scene, where he was pronounced dead.
Lily Rock reaches about 8,000 feet and is also known as Tahquitz Rock.
