PALMDALE, Calif. (AP) - A man who fell into a well in Palmdale and was trapped there for more than 24 hours has been rescued and is recovering.
Authorities say the man was pulled out of the well about 9 p.m. Saturday after rescue crews broke up concrete around the well's narrow mouth.
The man, who was able to walk on his own after the rescue, was taken to a hospital for evaluation. None of his injuries were life-threatening.
The man fell into the opening about 6 feet below ground after he dropped something in the well and tried to get it out. Horseback riders heard his cries for help and notified authorities.
Palmdale is in the desert about 50 miles north-northeast of Los Angeles.
