LOS ANGELES (AP) - The real estate tracking firm DataQuick says statewide California home and condo sales in March were up 31.5 percent from February and up 0.8 percent over March 2012.
San Diego-based DataQuick said Thursday that last month's median price was $313,000, a rise of 8.3 percent from $289,000 in February and up 24.7 percent over the year-earlier median price of $251,000.
An estimated 37,764 new and resale houses and condos sold statewide last month.
In the nine-county San Francisco Bay area, home sales dipped in March compared to the same period in 2012, but the median price rose on a year-over-year basis for the 12th consecutive month. DataQuick says that was due to demand continuing to outstrip supply in many areas.
