SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities have identified a Northern California man who was shot and killed while defending his mother-in-law from thieves.

The Alameda County Coroner's Office on Tuesday identified the victim as 32-year-old Delun Pan of Alameda.

Police say Pan was shot Friday while trying to help his mother-in-law who was unloading items from her car when two thieves attempted to rob her outside a home in San Leandro. The suspects sped away in a dark-colored sedan.

Pan later died at a local hospital.

The Bay Area News Group reports that a coroner's spokeswoman said an autopsy revealed Pan died from a bullet wound to his abdomen.

Also, San Leandro city officials announced on Tuesday that they are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in connection with Pan's death.
