SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Passengers have been stalled for several hours on an Amtrak train that broke down shortly after leaving Oakland for Bakersfield.
Amtrak ticket agent Toni Brown said Thursday that train 714's locomotive experienced mechanical trouble about 50 minutes after departing the Jack London Square station at 10:05 a.m.
More than three hours later the train still hadn't moved.
Brown says officials were deciding whether to send buses to pick up the stuck passengers.
She says the train is likely about half full, but couldn't say how many people were on board.
