CHP Officer Seriously Wounded in Highway Shooting
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a California Highway Patrol officer is in serious condition after he was shot on Interstate 680 near Walnut Creek.
The Tuesday morning shooting also left an unidentified suspect with a gunshot wound. The CHP says both the officer and the suspect were taken to the hospital, and the suspect was also in serious condition.
Authorities are still investigating what led up to the shooting, but they say it appears to have occurred following a traffic stop.
The highway was closed in both directions in the area.
