SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard says the body of a missing diver has been found in the waters off Santa Cruz Island.
The 50-year-old man was reported missing Friday afternoon from a 22-foot dive boat named the Coram Deo.
The National Park Service conducted a search along with officials from Ventura, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles counties. A Coast Guard helicopter also was used.
Several hours later snorkelers from the Coram Deo came upon the body on the north side of the island.
The Ventura County Star reports the diver's body was brought to the Coast Guard station at the Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard, where he was pronounced dead.
The newspaper says the name of the diver is being withheld until the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department can notify the next of kin.
