OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - A dead body found in a trash container in Oakland may be that of a man who has been missing since he allegedly was in a car crash following a police pursuit.
Police say workers found the body Thursday night in the yard of an East Oakland home. Investigators have not indicated if they think the man was hiding in the container or put there by someone else.
The Oakland Tribune is reporting that the Alameda County Coroner's office told the family of a missing Castro Valley man was told Friday that tattoos on the body suggest it belongs to their missing relative, 37-year-old Santiago Steve Ornelas.
Ornelas, a parolee, has been missing since April 5, when he and another man were in a car accident while being pursued by California Highway patrol officers.
