Bicyclist Flown to Hospital After Being Struck by Utility Truck

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA - A bicyclist is seriously hurt after being struck by a utility truck in the area of Wildwood Avenue in South Lake Tahoe.

On Tuesday, August 6, 2013, around 2:45 a.m., the driver of a 1-ton flatbed utility truck struck the bicyclist, according to the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLT PD).

The driver, a resident of Visalia, California, reports traveling east on Highway 50 in the number 2 lane at about 25 mph and claims he never saw the bicyclist, according to the SLT PD.

The bicyclist, Donovan Boling, 25, was airlifted to a hospital in Reno for medical treatment.

It appears the bicyclist was not wearing a helmet and had no headlamp; there was a single reflector facing rearward under the seat, according to SLT PD.

The investigation of this collision is in progress. No fault or primary collision fact has been determined.
