RENO, Nev. -- A Morgan Hill mother accused of using her 10-year-old daughter in a grocery theft attempt was arrested in Fernley Friday night.

38-year old Marcy Keelin is facing Burglary and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor charges after police say she and her daughter filled a grocery cart at the Safeway Grocery Store in Morgan Hill; investigators say Keelin then had her daughter wait by the store's front doors while she brought the car around. When the daughter tried to wheel the cart out without paying, store employees stopped her. That is when police say Keelin drove off, leaving her 10-year-old there.

According to Safeway employees, this was the second time Keelin and her daughter tried to get away without paying. A first, successful incident was caught on tape and turned over to Morgan Hill police.

After numerous attempts to find Keelin on Friday, police in Morgan Hill asked for help from the public and law enforcement in neighboring areas, including Nevada.

Keelin was found Friday night at a Fernley hotel. She had her 11-month-old baby with her at the time. She was arrested and will likely be extradited back to Morgan Hill; the extradition hearing is on Monday.

The 10-year-old daughter in Morgan Hill was released into the custody of her grandmother.
