CONCORD, Calif. (AP) - Northern California transit officials are working to restore service on the Bay Area Rapid Transit's Pittsburg Bay Point line after a train derailed and blocked both sides of the track.
BART spokeswoman Jim Allison said in a statement Saturday that service between Pleasant Hill and Pittsburg Bay Point is still suspended because both tracks are blocked at Concord.
As of Saturday morning, buses provided by AC Transit, Tri Delta and Contra Costa County Connection were serving the closed BART stations. One shuttle train also was operating.
The out-of-service train derailed about 6:20 p.m. Friday as it was leaving the Concord Station and going to Concord Yard.
Allison says BART has removed two of the four cars that were derailed and is trucking them to maintenance facilities for repairs.
