LIVINGSTON, Calif. (AP) - A central California woman is accused of killing a 1-year-old boy she was baby-sitting by throwing him against a couch.
The Merced Sun-Star reports that 48-year-old Maria De Los Angeles Sixtos, of Livingston, pleaded not guilty to felony child abuse charges on Monday. Livingston is about 70 miles northwest of Fresno.
The boy died in March 2011, but Sixtos was not arrested until last month. Merced County prosecutors say the delay was the result of the pathologist on the case leaving the county.
The child's name has not been released.
Livingston police say Sixtos acknowledged throwing him after he kept following her into the kitchen and wouldn't stay in the living room.
The judge set her bail at $585,000.
