SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - BART commuter trains are running after a weekend explosion briefly shut down a downtown San Francisco station.

The San Francisco Chronicle says Sunday's blast was caused by a brake overload on a Pittsburg-Bay Point train stopped at Civic Center station.

There was no smoke and no fire.

Bay Area Rapid Transit spokeswoman Alicia Trost says the Fire Department gave the all clear at about 2:30 p.m. and the station reopened an hour after the incident.

BART train schedules returned to normal a short time later.
