OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Authorities have released the names of two teenage girls who were shot and killed during an especially violent weekend in Oakland.
Officials say 16-year-old Bobbie Sartain and 15-year-old Raquel Gerstel were found shot to death around 6 a.m. Sunday in East Oakland. Police say both girls were hit by gunfire multiple times.
The Oakland Tribune reports the deaths were the 114th and 115th homicides of the year in the city.
Police have not determined a motive for the killings and don't know why the girls were on an Oakland street alone at an early hour. No arrests have been made.
Sunday's shooting came after two people were killed Saturday in Oakland in separate shootings. An 18-year-old woman was shot to death around 7 a.m. and a 19-year-old man died in a hospital after being shot several times around 3 p.m.
