BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) - An attorney for the family of a man who died while being arrested by Kern County Sheriff's deputies Wednesday says he plans on filing a civil rights lawsuit in federal District Court in Fresno next week.
Attorney David Cohn - who represents the family of David Sal Silva - said during a news conference Friday that he is also demanding access to videos taken by bystanders during the incident.
The Bakersfield Californian reports that Cohn says the videos were what he termed an "important piece" to the case involving 33-year-old David Sal Silva.
Silva died after Kern County deputies say he fought them after they approached him about complaints that someone in the area was intoxicated.
Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood said he was asking the public to be patient and give his office the opportunity to conduct an investigation.
