SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - A 24-year-old California man is in jail for the stabbing death of a former girlfriend whose body was found in an alley.

The Orange County Register says investigators got a tip and arrested Luis Antonio Garcia Morales in Santa Ana on Thursday. He had told family members he was going to Mexico and he had been selling his belongs, including his car.

Morales was booked for investigation of murder for the death of 21-year-old Maria Isabel Cerrillo of Tustin. Her body was found Tuesday night in a Santa Ana alley.

Cpl. Anthony Bertagna says Morales had been trying to rekindle his relationship with Cerrillo, who was about to be engaged to a man in Northern California.

He's being held with bail set at $1.1 million.
