FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Fresno police have fatally shot a man who held his girlfriend at gunpoint during a domestic dispute.
The man, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital Saturday evening where he died.
Police Chief Jerry Dyer tells the Fresno Bee the man held his girlfriend in a headlock and pointed a gun at his own head.
Responding officers heard the woman's screams from a block away. When they arrived, they opened fire. Dyer declined to say how many times the man was hit. The woman was not hurt.
Officers recovered two handguns from the scene.
