Accused DUI Driver Crashes Into House

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA - A South Lake Tahoe man was arrested Thursday night, accused of crashing a car into a house.

February 21st about 8:20PM, South Lake Tahoe police received numerous 911 calls reporting a car had just crashed into the front of a house. A CHP officer in the area arrested 27-year-old Christopher Catterson, who was running from the scene.

Police found a Volvo station wagon crashed into two parked cars in the driveway of 2592 Fountain Drive.

Witnesses report having seen Catterson in the driver’s seat of the Volvo, although Catterson denied being the driver. Catterson, whose driver’s license was suspended for a prior DUI conviction, was charged with driving under the influence and hit and run.

Police say it appears from Catterson’s cell phone that he was in the process of sending a text message at the time of the collision.

Catterson received minor injuries from the collision. No one else was injured.
