Smokey Robinson Gets College Fund Honor

Motown legend Smokey Robinson will be honored tonight for his contributions to the miracle of education.

Robinson, who had dozens of hits for his group The Miracles, is recieving an award of excellence from the United Negro College Fund.

He'll get the award tonight in Pasadena during taping of a two-hour concert tribute. The show will be broadcast in January.

Robinson shot to fame as the frontman for the Miracles and gave Motown its first No. 1 R&B hit with "Shop Around" in 1960.

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
