A judge has ordered a woman convicted of murdering her husband to pay more than $212,000 Contra Costa County officials say she owes for attorneys and other legal services.
Superior Court Judge Thomas Maddock says Susan Polk could reimburse the county with proceeds from the sale of the suburban
home where she killed her husband.
Polk represented herself at her three-month trial and has contested the bill, arguing that the tab was for legal services she never requested.
Polk is serving a prison term of 16 years to life for the October 2002 stabbing death of her husband, Felix Polk, whom she met as a teenager when he was her psychological therapist.
