Jury Selection Starts In Trial Of Man Charged With Killing Wife

Lawyers in Oakland today began questioning potential jurors for the trial of a software engineer charged with killing his estranged wife, who went missing about a year ago.

Nina and Hans Reiser were in a custody dispute over their two young children when she disappeared last September after dropping off their son and daughter at his Oakland home.

Her minivan was found abandoned with groceries and purse still inside.

Nina Reiser's body has not been found, but prosecutors say physical evidence, including blood stains in Hans Reiser's house and car, implicates him in her death.

Defense attorneys say Hans Reiser does not know his wife's whereabouts and have suggested she's alive in Russia, her native
country.
