It looks like the San Jose Grand Prix has run its last lap.
The auto race held for the last three years in the streets of downtown San Jose has officially been canceled.
The race had been heavily subsidized by San Jose taxpayers, after the city council in January 2006 approved four million dollars in cash payments.
The subsidy, however, was scheduled to drop substantially in future years, to about $600,000 annually to cover staff costs.
