Bay Bridge Repairs Moving Ahead Of Schedule

The contractor for the Bay Bridge repairs says work is moving ahead of schedule, and the span could reopen as early as tonight.

Caltrans officials, however, are remaining conservative and sticking with the scheduled reopening of 5 a.m. tomorrow.

Last night, workers wrapped up demolition and moved a gigantic
seismically retrofitted section of the bridge into place.

Caltrans had scheduled five hours to mave the move, but it only took two hours.

Today crews are striping the roadway, putting up lights and patching up the pavement.
