A former Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy was convicted today of murdering his estranged wife.
Ann Mineko Racz disappeared 16 years ago after filing for divorce and moving away with the couple's children.
John Racz was found guilty of the first-degree murder.
His 42-year-old wife vanished on her way to a fast-food restaurant.
He faces a maximum of life in prison with the possibility of parole when he is sentenced September 14th.
Racz was arrested last October as he stepped off a flight from Thailand.
His wife disappeared after filing for a divorce to end their 19-year marriage and moving to a condominium with the couple's children.
Authorities later found her car at an airport parking lot in Van Nuys.
Her body was never found.
Racz retired from the Sheriff's Department 20 years ago.
He told investigators then that his wife had taken a long trip.
