More Engines Expected To Help Fight Month-Old Calif. Wildfire

That huge wildfire in Santa Barbara County continues to grow but officials are hopeful the blaze would move further away from homes.

Evacuation orders remain in effect for a handful of areas, including the Peachtree Community and the hamlet of Paradise Road.

About 650 people were told to leave their homes after flames came
within four miles on Friday.

Over 2,300 fire personnel, several water-dropping aircraft and over 100 engines were fighting the blaze burning in the Los Padres National Forest.

The fire has consumed over 88 square miles and is 70 percent contained. Full containment was expected Sept. 7, officials said.

It was started July 4 by sparks from equipment used to repair a water pipe.
