Elderly Sexual Assault Victim Sues Sonoma Nursing Home

A senior citizen with dementia and Parkinson's disease sued a Sonoma skilled nursing facility after she was sexually assaulted by a nurse assistant who worked there.

Sonoma Acres nurse assistant Jody Thomason was arrested in 2006,
after blocking a door to the elderly woman's room and sexually
assaulting her.

Thomason pleaded guilty to one county of lewd and lascivious acts on a dependent, and he was given a three-year suspended sentence after accepting a plea bargain.

The victim, who filed the suit through her husband accuses Sonoma Acres of negligent hiring for employing Thomason.

The suit claims Thomason has a history of similar crimes.

An attorney for Sonoma Acres said Thomason's state certificate was valid and a criminal background check showed no convictions.
