Two Brush Fires Break Out In East San Diego County

Firefighters have been busy in eastern San Diego County where two brush fires broke out about 12 miles apart.

Fire officials say both blazes began spreading at about three this afternoon in rugged terrain off State Route 94.

The California Department of Forestry says within 90 minutes,
the larger of the two fires had blackened roughly 100 acres near
Marron Valley Road in the Dulzura area. Officials say flames were
moving toward some structures, but posed no imminent threat.

Authorities say the other fire scorched about 12 acres and
threatened a structure in Rancho San Diego before crews gained the
upper hand.
