LOS ANGELES (AP) - An 82-year-old woman is facing burglary charges in Los Angeles County for allegedly hiding in doctors' officers and then stealing money once they left work.
Prosecutors say Doris Ann Gamble was charged Tuesday with seven counts of burglary and one count of attempted burlgary. She faces more than five years in jail if convicted.
Authorities say Gamble stole about $17,000 from doctors' offices between March and August by hiding out until closing time, then pilfering from the cash drawers. Prosecutors say Gamble, who has prior convictions, was arrested last week at a motel.
It wasn't immediately known if Gamble had retained an attorney. Prosecutors are seeking bail be set at $260,000.
