REDDING, CA (AP) - A 30-year-old Redding man is facing a vehicle tampering charge after firefighters had to cut a large hole in the side of someone else's pickup truck to free his finger from the gas tank filler tube.
Police say Mark James Gugin's left index finger apparently became stuck in a hole above the filler tube's collapsible flange.
Officers say the truck belonged to an unsuspecting Cottonwood resident who apparently was spending yesterday along the Sacramento River. The truck was parked in a boat ramp parking lot.
Police say they found three plastic gasoline containers in Gugin's car.
