FREMONT, Calif. (AP) - A San Francisco Bay area man told by relatives that his picture was just shown on television was not wanted for a crime, but as the winner of a $52 million lottery jackpot.
KGO-TV reported on Friday that Marita and Bladimir Agnite of Fremont didn't know they had the winning ticket until lottery officials released the picture from surveillance video.
After his relatives alerted him, the recently laid-off Bladimir excitedly woke up his wife with the news. The couple was living with friends.
California Lottery officials said it is their responsibility to connect ticket purchasers with their winnings, which is why they released the video.
The Agnites say the money will change their lives, but Marita Agnite said she planned to keep her job as a nursing assistant.
