HEMET, Calif. (AP) - Five people are in jail and $1 million worth of marijuana plants growing in plain sight have been uprooted at a Southern California pot farm.
Plywood fences blocked a street view of the three-acre marijuana operation in rural Riverside County near Hemet.
But the strong odor of marijuana detected by a sheriff's deputy and a helicopter flight confirmed on Tuesday that 184 large pot plants were growing behind the makeshift walls.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise says the five people arrested have been booked for investigation of marijuana cultivation and possession of marijuana for sale.
They have been placed on immigration holds by the U.S. Border Patrol pending charges.
