BELLFLOWER, Calif. (AP) - Six people have been injured in a fiery collision involving two vehicles in Southern California that set a restaurant ablaze.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Brian Proctor says the BMW and the Nissan sport utility vehicle collided early Sunday in Bellflower after one of the drivers apparently ran a red light.
Authorities say the impact dislodged the Nissan's engine, while the BMW rolled over, caught fire and ignited the blaze at the restaurant, which was closed.
The six people in the two vehicles were hospitalized. Both drivers and a passenger were in serious condition.
Proctor says the drivers are being investigated for driving under the influence, but no charges have been filed.
The fire at the restaurant was extinguished in under 10 minutes. Damage was estimated at $50,000.
