LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - A man has pleaded guilty to attempted
murder and other charges in a South Los Angeles gang shooting that
critically wounded a 6-year-old boy.
Deputy District Attorney John Lonergan said Wednesday that
26-year-old Ernesto Murillo pleaded guilty in court in Long Beach
Superior Court to three counts of attempted murder, five counts of
assault with a firearm and one count of shooting at an inhabited
He also admitted to gang and gun allegations stemming from last
year's shooting into a sports utility vehicle in the Harbor Gateway
The boy, who was in the SUV with his family, was shot in the
Lonergan faces up to life in prison.
Charges against another man, 27-year-old Ismael Torres, were
dismissed after additional investigation.
