OCEANSIDE, Calif. (AP) - The harbor at Oceanside has been
contaminated by a spill from a grease-blocked sewer line.
Spokesman Mark McPherson of the San Diego County Department of
Environmental Health says city crews managed to halt the spill in
less than two hours Wednesday. About 400 gallons of sewage was
recovered, but about 600 gallons entered Oceanside Harbor through a
A contamination warning is in effect for several days.
McPherson says the concern is for individuals working on boats
who could be exposed to the contaminated water, but the spill will
have little impact on the harbor's ecosystem.
