Small Plane Crashes Near Big Bear Lake

BIG BEAR CITY, Calif. (AP) - A small plane has crashed in the
San Bernardino Mountains near a dam but both the pilot and
passenger appeared to escape injury.

Authorities say the crash occurred about 1:30 p.m. Friday as the
Cessna 172 was en route to Big Bear Airport after leaving San
Bernardino International Airport. The plane ended up just west of
the Big Bear Dam.

A sheriff's helicopter spotted the two people after they lit a
signal fire.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
